TRAVEL GUIDE TO INDONESIA
This is your ultimate travel guide to Indonesia!
CAPITAL: JAKARTA
Asia is my favorite continent, where I would go over and over. It is so diverse, so full of history, cultural diversity, paradisiaque landscape, and scenery you never see elsewhere.
Henceforth, Indonesia is my favorite country in Asia, well, because it has Bali. Indonesia is the largest archipelago in the world that forms a single state. It has five main islands and 30 smaller archipelagoes, totaling about 17 508 islands.
Indonesia was once largely under the control of Buddhist and Hindu rulers. But it is now the world’s third most populous democracy, the world’s largest archipelagic state, and the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation. Also, it is the most heavily forested region on earth after the Amazon, despite having the fourth largest population in the world.
This vast and wonderful archipelago is also home to a vast range of fauna and flora, countless linguistic and ethnic groups, cultures, and pristine landscapes.

YOUR TRAVEL GUIDE
Indonesia has a strategic location between Asia and Australia and between the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Also, it is relatively easily accessible via boat. Indonesia is one of the countries along the Ring of Fire, a belt of active volcanoes and earthquake epicenters bordering the Pacific Ocean.
Religions: Muslim 87.2%, Protestant 7%, Roman Catholic 2.9%, Hindu 1.7%, Buddhist and Confucian 0.9%.
Language: The official language in Indonesia is Bahasa Indonesia, a modified form of Malay. More than 700 languages are used in Indonesia, like English, and Dutch, and local dialects like Javanese.
Currency: The currency in Indonesia is the Indonesian Rupiah.
CARD PAYMENTS AND CASH WITHDRAWALS:
All types of credit cards are accepted in tourist areas, restaurants, hotels, and boutiques. However, some vendors will only accept cash or have issues with their card machines. I suggest you keep some cash, especially if you go to the market or on small islands like Gili Islands, where I had connexion issues paying with a card.
ATMs: in popular destinations like Bali and Jakarta you will find plenty of ATMs, even in the Gili Islands, but in some remote areas it will be more difficult.
Plugs: Indonesia has plug types, C and F. Plug type C has two round pins and plug type F has two round pins, with two earth clips on the side. Indonesia operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.
BEST HOTEL DEALS
BEST TIME TO VISIT
Asia is divided into three major climatic realms: Boreal Asia in the North, Desert Asia in the West and Center, and Monsoon Asia in the South and East.
The best time to travel to Indonesia is during the dry season. This is from May to September, and there’s no rain. Perfect for scuba diving, hiking, and biking around the rice fields.
Indonesia’s wet season is from October to April, the rain only lasts an hour or two. The good news is that the hotels and airplane fares are cheaper.
When planning a trip to Asia is good to plan ahead, depending on the monsoon season. It varies from country to country, so it’s easy to pick a destination where the rain has yet to hit.
