TRAVEL GUIDE to FRANCE
This is your ultimate travel guide to France!
CAPITAL: Paris
Been calling France, Home, since 2014, so I will tell you all the insights from a local perspective.
Simply because I live in Paris and know the reality, you will not hear me bragging about the City of LOVE, but more about the City of Lights, or the Jungle of Lights, as I call it.
But Paris is not the thunder steeler of France. We are talking about a country that has many things to offer, starting with the historic Normandy, the impressive Châteaux of the Loire Valley, Bordeaux’s vineyards, passing through the Alps, and finishing with the prestigious French Riviera.
Say Hello in France:
Salut, Bonjour = Hello/Good Day
Coucou = the informal way of saying Hi, between friends
When in FRANCE
YOUR TRAVEL GUIDE
European Union: France is one of the 6 founding members of the European Union to establish a Customs Union.
Language: The official language in France is French.
Currency: France is one of the 19 state members that have EURO currency.
Card Payments and Cash Withdrawals:
If you want to talk like a French, call your credit carte Carte Bleue which designates a Visa or MasterCard.
You can pay with international credit cards everywhere, starting from 1€. Some restaurants might impose a minimum payment of 10€. You can split the bill on different cards.
You might struggle to find places that accept American Express around the country, but not in Paris.
ATM: they are easy to find everywhere in the country, you just look around you and you will find a Bank with an ATM.
Connexion: The Internet is at a very good speed, with 5G. Wi-Fi connection everywhere you go, free or on demand in some restaurants or hotels.
If you are from the EU, roaming is free of charge. You can call and connect to your mobile data as if you were in your country of origin without extra costs.
Railroads: You will have connections through the country and connecting other important cities in Europe, easily accessible, but … very expensive, especially during peak season. French people that travel a lot will subscribe to an annual fee package. For instance, THALYS is a very good option, that connects France, Belgium, Germany, and Netherland. But quite expensive if you don’t buy it in advance.
Plugs: Plugs are Type C and E. The standard voltage is 230V, and the standard frequency is 50Hz.

Best Time to visit
The most visited season in France is SUMMER, from June to August, but in the South it’s best to go off-season, starting from April until October included, as temperatures are still warm and you can enjoy the region uncrowded.
France is the most expensive country in Europe during Summer. Book in advance or go off-season.
WINTER in France is as spectacular as Summer. I know some people that will argue with me, saying it’s even prettier.
France offers a large variety of scenery and winter activities, starting from Skiing or Snowboarding in the Alps, passing through one of the most famous Christmas Market in Colmar, and finishing with the imposing Mont Blanc.
The most beautiful Winters in France, are definitely in the mountains. If you are a mountain explorer, this is a must.
