Going on a Solo Trip, especially as a female traveler can be frightening. But actually, this is the place where you should start your solo journey. It is not called the island of the Gods for no reason. You will be protected here by invisible forces.

When I booked my trip to Bali I was in a period of my life when I no longer knew which road to take. I felt I needed to take a break from all my problems, from all my fears, and just leave it all behind me. And I needed to go to a place where I could reinvent myself, where I could be in touch with my inner self. And Bali was the perfect choice for my state of mind at that time.

Bali has taught me so much about myself, and about my path in this life and I finally found answers to questions I kept asking for years. And it’s been overwhelming the entire experience. I am a spiritual person, more than religious and the Balinese Hindu Culture suits me the most. I read so many times the book by Elisabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love, and I came to practice and love this culture. I could not wait of experiencing in person all those ceremonies and customs.

3 reasons why Bali is the safest destination for solo female travelers

1. KIND LOCAL people

Balinese people are warm and friendly. They will do everything to make you feel comfortable and to provide you with the best service. A particular thing about them is that they are very tolerant of tourists trying to witness their ceremonies and forget that it is still a private and religious gathering.

Their behavior is related to their religious beliefs: What goes around, comes around!

They will never do anything to harm people as they are firm believers that they will be punished if they wrong someone.

Before going to Bali I read about disturbing experiences some tourists had. Apparently, they were mainly in the Kuta region. Some pickpocketing and tourists even died in some nightclubs, infected with methanol from their local drink, called arak. Read more here. Rather than that, Bali is pretty safe to travel to.

2. Low crime rate

Bali is known to have a low crime rate that impacts tourists. In 2019 there were 72 crimes registered per 100 000 inhabitants, continuing until 2022.

Petty crimes like scams, pickpocketing, and mugging do occur, but they are mostly isolated to the Kuta region.

In fact, the highest risks to tourists in Bali are natural disasters!

Natural disasters that may occur in Bali include tsunamis, earthquakes, flash floods, volcanic eruptions, and rough seas.

Although the traffic is very rough, getting around in Bali is very easy and safe. I do not recommend you rent a car as you are not used to that traffic and it could be overwhelming.

You can rent a scooter which is very practical and you can navigate better in between the cars.

Safety Tips FOR SOLO FEMALE TRAVELERS IN Bali

Safety issues can be daunting when traveling alone, especially as a solo female. Here you can find some useful tips to make you feel more at ease in Bali:

Don’t hold your phone in your hand while on a scooter
Keep your personal belongings safe at close to you at all times
Get basic information on the most common Bali disaster drills, like what to do in an earthquake or volcanic eruption.
Don’t swim while the red flags are up! The tides and currents in Bali can be really strong.
